Xenophobia and Racism around COVID-19

At PI, we do not accept or support xenophobic, prejudice, or racist comments or actions. This applies to not only COVID-19, but at all times. Many Asian community members within our city and globally are being targeted and discriminated against. We encourage you to speak up against this and to actively continue to support local Asian businesses and organizations. We encourage everyone to promote correct information about the COVID-19, its risk and transmission, and the importance of not stigmatizing a group based on background or country of origin.

FAQs for Passion Impact

Q: What events are canceled?
A: All in-person events after school or located at the PI office are canceled through the end of March 2020 pending further discussion and information. Any event that can meet online is highly encouraged and provided as the alternative option.

Q: Can I come to the PI office?
A: If you feel at all sick, please stay home and do not come to the PI Office or to school. Otherwise, please reach out to us either on Slack or via [email protected] to confirm that we will be available.

Q: What happens if a PI staff tests positive or is exposed to someone who tests positive to COVID-19?
A: In keeping with CDC guidelines, if a team member or visitor to PI’s office is diagnosed with the COVID-19: Any employee or visitor to PI’s office that learns that they have been diagnosed with the COVID-19 will be asked to stay home. We will close the PI office during the entire incubation period of the virus (up to 14 days). The office will remain closed for the necessary period following potential contact as well as the time needed to adequately decontaminate the office. All employees that have been in the office during the incubation period will be asked to not visit the PI office, and to work from home.

Q: What happens if I test positive for COVID-19 and I am in PI programs?
A: Any individual who attends an PI event and learns that they have been diagnosed with COVID-19 is asked to notify our staff immediately at [email protected]. We will notify all staff, students, volunteers, and other visitors that they may have been exposed to COVID-19. Anyone who has been in contact with the individual diagnosed will also be asked to stay home and not attend programs for the incubation period of the virus (up to 14 days). Employees who are asymptomatic will be encouraged to work from home for the incubation period to the extent possible. Any surface that may have been exposed such as vehicles, office supplies, or sports equipment, will be disinfected. We will provide updates via email and website as possible.

Q: Should I go to school?
A: Do not attend school if you are feeling sick at all. If you feel sick, please consult your primary care doctor first before going to the emergency room. If you are so ill that you’re having trouble breathing, call 911. At this point, PPS schools will remain open until otherwise communicated. If you believe you or a family member are of high risk, we recommend communicating with your school and teachers directly to appropriately address your situation.

Q: As students, can we still volunteer with PI?
A: Since programs are being paused through the end of March 2020, our High School Program Coordinator has plans to incorporate tele-programming to keep students engaged. In addition, if schools close, we are prepared to engage in a full range of tele-program options for students to stay engaged while at home.
